Why We Make New Year’s Resolutions

Updated: Feb 1, 2022

Greetings Community

Richard Wiseman, a psychologist and author with a penchant for mass participation experiments, discovered that 52 percent of people making New Year's resolutions were confident they'd stick it out. Yet only a scant 12 percent really did (source and to read more : Eisenstadt)

Then why bother? New Year's resolutions are, as one author wrote, "a triumph of hope over experience". They're a way to quantify what we wish for ourselves. They are a means to cataloguing our personal dissatisfactions. And, perhaps most importantly, they are a method of erasing errors of the past year. Yes, New Year's resolutions are all about hopefulness. And it's always been that way.

If your resolutions are about learning, creativity, being challenged or spending more time with God, then we have much to offer you:

Narrative Reading group – 25th January

African Drumming – 2nd February

Listening Course : 25th February - 18th March (4 weeks)

Quiet Day (Finding God with Chocolate) – 16th February

For more information, please see attached adverts and our website www.i4cc.co.za

And, if you have a training or workshop requirement, please contact us.

We look forward to encountering you in 2019!
